A breach has occurred at one of our vendors involving sensitive, but public, information. Fortunately, the information did not include any personally identifiable information or “PII.” Thus, your social security number, bank and financial account numbers, and governmental identification numbers were not compromised in this incident.
July 16, 2020, we were notified of a data security incident in which our third-party vendor, Blackbaud, suffered a ransomware attack in May 2020. This incident may have resulted in unauthorized access to certain information maintained by Blackbaud. Blackbaud is a cloud-computing company that provides donor record-keeping services to the United Methodist Children’s Home, as well as other foundations, health care organizations, and educational institutions within the nonprofit sector.
In its notification, Blackbaud indicated that certain financial-giving records were included among the data potentially impacted by the incident. Such records could include donors' names, physical addresses, phone numbers, birthdates, and donor profile information, such as donors' real estate asset holdings or giving history.
Since the information at issue is both publicly available and not the type of information that typically results in identity theft, we feel that you do not need to take any particular action to protect yourself. However, we are happy to address any questions you have about this incident or please contact Blackbaud directly. The toll free number to do so is 855-907-2099.
